Do not Recommend this Printer Apr 17, 2010
By Yang Wang I definitely do not recommend this printer.
There are some positives. First of all, it is inexpensive. I paid less than $400 for it. The quality of the print is very good, with good color and crisp texts. The wireless setup is really quite straightforward and it works flawlessly. I have a desktop computer and a laptop. I have no trouble printing from both (the laptop from wireless).
But the negatives far out weight the positives. To begin with, the toner cartridges are VERY EXPENSIVE at $57+tax per 1500-page black toner. The toner that came with the printer ran out on me after barely over 200 pages! I'm not the only one who experience this. If you go to Dell website this is a common complaint. The 1500-page black toner will definitely not give you 1500 pages, as people have complained. My original Xerox printer cartridge lasted several years in comparison.
The printer prints a very dark text. Even when I set the quality to draft it is still very dark. This may explain why the ink runs out so quickly.
The scan quality is lousy. If you are only interested in low quality scanning this is fine. One good feature is that you can scan without using the computer (in fact I am not sure you can do otherwise). After pressing a few buttons on the printer you get a scan on your computer. The negative is you don't have as much control, and each page gives you a separate file.
To fax you cannot use the document feeder. This is very annoying, as you can only fax your document page by page.
I don't recommend this printer. In the long run it may cost you a lot more money and it is not the easiest to use for fax and scan.
Dell 1235cn Is Not What I thought It'd Be Aug 13, 2010
By Sw1218 I bought this printer, because it was the cheapest all-in-one color laser printer that I could find. The Microsoft and DELL web sites said it was compatible with Windows 7. WRONG!! This printer IS NOT compatible with Windows 7. All it does is crash my PC. So, as of now, I'm putting this printer up for sale.
