Better than Rockford Fosgate if paired with the right equipment. Jan 17, 2009
By Ryan Farwell I used to have a Rockford Fosgate 2 channel amp hooked up to 2 12" kicker comps that packed a pretty good punch. I took a chance at buying this because it's considered an 'entry-level' brand, but I was only powering my kickers at about 1/3 power with the Rockford Fosgate, and the Power Acoustik rated 3/4 power RMS with both subs at 4-ohms. When I went to get the Power Acoustik amp installed, the installer sort of chuckled and started to tell me about how I was making a mistake of switching a mid/high end amp with an entry level amp because the Rockford Fosgate would still make the subs sound better. But I still insisted on the installation, being optimistic. I am so glad I took the chance. This amplifier kicks the subs so much harder and sounds so much clearer than the Rockford Fosgate did after 2 years. After tuning the amp and getting everything squared away, the installer was floored by the sound production, and started to apologize. With my experience with this amp, you simply cannot get a better value for the price. If you're going to purchase this, I highly recommend that you buy a pair of subwoofers that rate around 300-400 watts RMS @ 4-ohms to get this amp to release its full potential. The amp only rates 300 watts RMS max x2 @ 4-ohms, but getting some subs that can handle more power will last longer than buying subs that can only handle the 300 RMS max. I promise this thing will still kick hard and clear. Don't believe me? Ask my neighbors..
POWER ACOUSTIK VERY UNDER RATED Oct 23, 2010
By danny WELL I JUST WANTED TO LIVE THIS REVIEW TO SPREAD THE WORD ON HOW GEAT THIS AMP IS. I BOUGHT THIS AMP BECUASE OF THE PREVIOUS REVIEW. AND MUST SAY YOU GET THE REAL PATENTIAL OUT OF YOU'RE SUBS WITH THIS AMP. I ALSO HAVE A PAIR OF KICKERS AND WAS USING A 1000 WATT MONOLINE AMP AND BLEW THAT INA BOUT A MONTH. DID SOME SEARCHING AND COMPARISON AND FOUND THIS ONE.
DOES IT GET HOTTER THAN HELL....YES
DOES IT SOUND GREAT....YES
AND I MUST SAY ITS REALLY BRINGING OUT THE PATENTIAL IN MY REGULAR SPEAKERS AS WELL BEEN THROUGH TWO AMPS BEFORE THIS ONE AND NONE OF THEM SOUND THIS CLEAN I MAKE EVEN MY HIGH IN MY SPEAKER SOUND BETTER I AM SIMPLY AMAZED EVEN PEOPLE WHO RODE IN MY CAR BEFORE AND STEP INTO IT NOW NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE.
ABOUT THE AMP GETTING HOT ITS ONLY FOR THE FIRST CUPLE MONTHS GETS THIS WEIRD KINDA SMELL AS WELL BUT JUST TRY TO BREAK HER IN SLOW. THE AMP ADJUSTICES AFTER SOME TIME AND AFTER EIGHT MONTHS LATER SEEM TO HAVE NO ISUE WITH THOSE PREVIOUSLY STATED
OH YEAYH I DEFFINITLY RECOMMEND CONNECTING THE GAIN CONTROLL GREAT WAY TO MATCH YOU'RE BASE WITH YOU'RE HIGH'S BRINGS THE MOST OUT OF YOU'RE MUSIC TRUST ME
