good box, crap speaker Mar 29, 2010
By J. Lambert I bought this for the box and didn't expect much from the speaker but I thought it would last till i could buy something better. After 3 weeks it died (blown coil). I haven't bought the speaker i want yet so i replaced it with one I've had 5 years (fosgate P1 150W rms), it sounds louder deeper and handles much more power than the 500W pile. This speaker does NOT have a built in low pass filter, the reason for its low output is the low quality coil and the extreemly thick, stiff face(cone and rubber surround). The box is worth the sale price, consider the speaker a freeby and replace it soon.
Also blowing a speaker can damage your amp so be carefull (I was lucky).

Super buy Oct 02, 2010
By copman After mixed reviews I was kind of skeptical but I am glad I bought this box and speaker. I figured like most reviews the box alone is worth what I paid and I was not wrong. But, I say but the speaker that comes with it is pretty good to, I was suprised. I have a Lanzar 800 2 channel amp pushing 400 watts to this speaker and it sounds GOOD! For the money you cant go wrong with this box and speaker. I have in in my X-cab pickup and it can shake the rear view mirrow and outside mirrows no problems. Great buy, buy it.

PLQB10 Pyle Blue Wave QUOOBZ subwoofer May 06, 2007
By Lorence B. Larson The first thing I noticed while unboxing the subwoofer is the weight of the carpet covered, cast-aluminum box, very nice heft but the carpet is slippery. Plexi-glass window on one end let's you see the travel of the heavy duty blue, poly cone. Dual ports on the opposite end of the box have a very smooth finish. Actual power ratings are 350 Watts RMS/500 Watts peak.
Situated just below the dual tuned ports is the gold-plated, spring-loaded combination speaker connection block that will accept banana plugs and pin-type connections as well as wire up to at least 4-gauge. There is a built-in low-pass filter in the sub so sensitivity is slightly reduced at lower power levels. At least 15 watts of power is needed to hear the bass but keep turning up the volume and at half of rated power (175 watts)it's actually a little too much for me. Freq. response is stated as 30Hz to 700HZ but there is about a 3db/octave roll-off above 450Hz, response down to about 18Hz is excellent.
Pyle Audio has been around for a very long time. I first started seeing Pyle equipment come in for installlation or repair back in the early 1980's in the electronics shop where I worked. They've always maintained a decent, low-budget, alot of "boom-for-the-buck" line of equipment and this is a good example.

Nice Sub, Great Price Jul 16, 2009
By AJM I bought this last year from Amazon because I wanted to add a low cost subwoofer to my factory stereo - Equinox. I can happily report that even at low wattage levels it produces clean base and sounds great.

All you need! May 19, 2009
By E. Nadal I compared a couple of brands of boxed subs at the stores, and the Pyle, though cheapest, sounded then best. I have one in each car. They give a nice solid punch. Not enough for the sonic boomers, but my 8" pyle box coupled with 2 infinity kappa 6x9's in back (components up front) and an infinity 6-channel amp has put many average just plain loud and sloppy installations to shame! Not just loud, but clean and loud. The Quoobz are a good secret choice.
