4Good value  Aug 07, 2011 By Andrew Q. Wong "Andy in Plymouth"
I use this in industrial setting. Powers high voltage audio system for wine bar. Has held up for several years now.

3Lacks Gain  Sep 07, 2008 By W. Wagner
Nice pre-amp with good tone control. Very nice set of 5 inputs with easy control over selection and i/o jack type. Nice to have a phono pre-amp again. Mic input is mono. I was disappointed with the lack of gain that I needed for my application. Five stars down to three based on lack of gain.

1cheap in, cheap out  May 20, 2011 By Chris Walton "Blissland"
The previous reviewer is correct; the output gain is comparatively low. If you're not using a powerful amplifier this unit would probably be inadequate. In any case it would be nice to have more headroom. There seem to be other problems in addition. The unit seemed to build up a charge over an hour or so and started humming audibly. Touching the chassis didn't cause a perceptible shock, but even pressing lightly on the top causes a nasty crackling. I'm really sick of all the crap coming out of China already. 30 or 40 years ago it would have been a simple matter to go out and get a solid American made preamp component with similar features but far superior quality. Now I have no idea where to find such a thing. The AC connector has no ground prong, but since it is a rack unit it should be possible to ground it using a proper rack. Unfortunately that's not the application I had in mind. If these issues persist and can't be resolved I'll have to return it ... still having no idea what to replace it with. One star for the price ... but that's only because it's assembled with slave labor. Little wonder they're sending us garbage.
